As a beginner trying to find my way in a commentary, I often got discouraged by the technical language used and soon I had to drop it. Now, thanks to my friend Péter who pointed it to me, I am in possession of a great book, "Scholastic Sanskrit" by Gary A. Tubb & Emery R. Boose.This Book helps you to understand and use the five services provided by commentaries:
- padaccheda - division of words;
- padārthokti - statement of the meaning of the words;
- vigraha - analysis of complex formations;
- vākyayojanā - construing the sentences;
- ākṣepasamādhāna - the answering of objections.
