Yogāvatāraḥ - 1

namastārāyai

śrutvā śāstramudāraṁ niścitya pāramārthikaṁ tattvam|

mṛdvāsanopaviṣṭaḥ saśraddho yogamārabhed [yogī]||1||

śrutvā=hearing; śāstram=recitation; udāraṁ=excelent; niścitya=being convinced; pāramārthikaṁ=N. sg. one who cares for truth; tattvam=Ac. sg. the truth (N. sg. the real);

mṛdv-āsana-upaviṣṭaḥ=N sg. soft-sitting-seated; saśraddho=N. sg. confident; yogam=Ac. sg. yoga [teaching]; ārabhed=opt. 3 sg. [he] should undertake [yogī] =N. sg. [the yogi]

Obeisance to [goddess] Tārā

[After] hearing the excellent recitation (śāstram) [and] being convinced, the real (tattvam) [yogi] who cares for truth (pāramārthikaṁ) [being] seated on a soft seat (mṛdvāsanopaviṣṭaḥ), confident should undertake yoga [practice].
